About Byzantine and Christian Museum
The Byzantine and Christian Museum was founded in 1914 and focuses exclusively on Byzantine art from the 4th to 19th centuries. It is housed in the attractive Villa Illissia, and contains an impressive array of frescoes, icons, and tapestries, as well as paintings and sculptures. Other features include its display of several outstanding illuminated manuscripts. It has been undergoing renovations and may be periodically closed or at partial capacity. There are rooms devoted to recreations of Byzantine churches from the 5th to 11th centuries as well.

Oct 22, 2008 Not the biggest of museums, but taking the Greece scale into account is quite a mouthful and very beautifully renovated in recent years. Worth your time if you are into Religous art and not only ;)
