May 20, 2009 Palamidi is a military fortress in Nafplion in the Peloponnese region, that was built by the Venetians during their second occupation of the area. To reach the top of the fortress, there are over one thousand steps in the winding stair from the town to the fortress, so I recommend to climb the stairs in the morning or the late afternoon, when it's not too hot. At the top of the fortress, there's a great view of the city of Navplion and the Argolic Gulf. In my opinion, the Palamidi is something you shouldn't miss! Oct 13, 2008 A nice run-down castle... not much to see except from some famous cells (it was a turkish prison), but the view is breath taking. If you prefer to go by stairs... mind that they are TOO many!
