It's a lovely place. Big lake surrounded by volcanoes, just impressive at different times of the day. As Panajachel stays probably the best place to find a hotel or something to eat, for people wanting to find some quiet consider going for example to San Pedro, where you can still find easily places to stay

It is a very special place where you can find a beautiful view and a lot of native people. You can buy beautiful souvenirs. There are many small towns very close to Atiltlan like San Pedro and Santiago where you can learn more about the Guatemala culture

The climat is great to get 100 years old: 30° during the day and 10-15° in the night. It's also great to do some hikes and / or study Spanish while living in an Mayan family. But try to avoyd eating too much frijoles y huevos ;-)

Panajachel was a 60s hippy drug party town on lake front. Try Villa Sumaya for beautiful cabins, writing yoga retreats: search: Patchwork
