A city that features well-preserved Spanish Mudéjar-influenced Baroque architecture.

Getting there:
side streets, in courtyards, behind the adobe walls... lots of good open air cafes

From the central park - you choose the direction to venture in and you will not be disappointed. From strolling the street at Santa Catalina's Arch to visiting the ruins of the many different churches and cathedrals - to bartering with the vendors at the mercado - spend a few days getting to know Antigua before heading out to Lake Atitlan, up to Tikal, etc. The kindness of the locals and the interesting expats that make up this city are not to be missed.

Antigua Guatemala is one of the most turistic place of Guatemala, it is a beatiful small town were you can go back in time and also get to know the nice people that works and live there. it has a lot of very old constructions and ruins where you can get and see them. Is also a place where you can go and relax because it has several places for that...but if you are looking for party you will find it there for sure...!

Most beautiful city ever seen. In a valley between three volcanos, the roadways are paved by pitch black volcanic rock and the street signs are made of tassels of ceramic. Only colorful one story building (well kept Spanish colonial townhomes ) a part from the town hall (2 stories).

Unfortunately the food is bad (throughout Guatemala), but you can forgive that: forget it with a couple of glasses of Ron Zacapa!

Of course I do not remember the name, but Antigua is such a charming city. Look into the courtyards, and you will see little open air cafes hidden behind the walls. There you will bet the best coffee ever, and wonderful meals. Stay off the beaten path or you will only see other Americans or Europeans who are in Spanish language classes.

Antigua is an incredibly beautiful city. Full of bright colours. It's a great place to be a tourist, walking around and people watching. Amazing culture. Although I can't remember the name of it, there's a great bakery there, made the best banana bread!
