Gueckedou used to have one of the biggest rural markets in the region, but it was destroyed to a great extent a few years back when rebels sacked the city. It has, however, regained quite a bit of its former glory and is well worth a visit. Gueckedou is very accessible, being on the mainroad that goes from Conakry all the way down to N'zerekore and the borders to Ivory Coast and Liberia
