Situated in central Guyana, the Iwokrama Forest is one of the last four untouched tropical rainforests in the world.  It is almost 3,710 square kilometres in size, and is an important transition zone.

The Iwokrama Forest is bounded to the west by the Pakaraima mountains, by the savannahs, the Essquibo River and the Siparuni River.

Most of Iwokrama is lowland tropical forest.  It is a bird watchers haven, with over 500 species, as well as over 420 species of fish.  Within the complex, you can go on guided nature walks, boat tours, go on hiking trips, canopy tours, and more.  The Iwokrama Mountains (1,000 m) in particular is a major focal point of the forest.
