Oct 19, 2011 an awesome outlook on the Pacific ocean, over the West and South coast of O'ahu and of course down on Honolulu. it takes about an hours hike to get up from the nearest bus stop, at the top there are lots of bunkers and the sights are really amazing. don't forget the park closes at 6 PM, so you sadly enough wont be able to catch a real sunset.. Jan 16, 2009 Take the time to climb Diamond Head. One of the most fabulous views on the planet. Don't think that it is easy. Stay hydrated. Little known fact; the facility inside the crater is the radar facility and controllers for Honolulu Center. I was privileged to tour the facility. Very cool to see the aircraft on the screen. Dec 27, 2009 Climb Diamond Head to reach to summit with a great view to Honolulu and mostly Waikiki Beach. Bring a obttel of water with you and take care not to bang your head when you're climbing out of the military bunker just before reaching the summit.. enjoy the view and be close to the skies and the passing airplanes! Nov 19, 2008 If you like to hike, the is one of the most beautiful views on the island. The only other better view I found was chartering a local pilot and flying over the islands a couple of hours before sunset after a strong rainstorm that cleared the skies quickly. absolutely amazing view. Feb 15, 2010 I was there in the summer and surprised by how desert-like this part of the island looked comparatively. There are few resources at the actual park. If I recall, this includes a long warning to bring water, and on a hot day it is very necessary. You can get there by taking the public bus.
