The El Cusuco National Park (Parque Nacional El Cusuco) is located on the Honduran side and protects an area 23,440 hectares of temperate forest in the Merendón mountain range. The core zone is located at an altitude of 1,800 - 2,242 m. Predominant forest habitats in the park are cloud forests, semi-arid pine forests on south-facing slopes , wet deciduous forests on north-facing slopes.

The Cusuco National Park is a place very few people know including locals from nearby city San Pedro Sula. The place is great for outdoors fans that want to experience real exploration expeditions. There are countless waterfalls, trails, etc. There's huge potential for some awesome hiking, mountain biking and climbing. Plus the most exotic fauna and flora! I recommend JungleXpedition for this trip... the guide is awesome! Dont miss it if you come to Honduras!
