The ruins at Copan are very interesting for Mayan ruins, especially if you've been travelling south from Mexico. At Copan there are numerous detailed carvings and stellae different than what you'd see further north. The site is still being excavated, but the great ball court and main temple are pretty impressive. Interesting to walk around the outskirts and see parts of the ruins that are still overtaken by vegetation.

Full of historic architecture from the Mayan Indians. Very friendly people. Very lively for such a quaint city. The hotels are very basic but I guess that is the allure of this historic city.

They are so old and still kept up amazingly well!! Incredible history!
