Jul 17, 2009 Sun, sea, sand and fantastic views Repulse Bay is a really nice place to go to enjoy the beach. It used to be the base for Pirates! The name apparantly comes from the "repulsion" of the pirates by the British Fleet. It's on the way to Stanley, if you're coming from Ocean Park on the South of Hong Kong island. Bus numbers 6, 6A, 6X, 260, or the number 40 minibus Jun 10, 2010 Nice beach area although the sand is not as fine as in other parts of Asia. There is some expansion of the beachfront and the beach is wider than other beaches in the area. Heard it is crowded on weekends, though. There is a 7-11 on the other side of the road, not too far in case one needs to grab a quick drink or snack.
