About Amelia Earhart's Airstrip
Howland Island

Howland Island has achieved a permanent place in history as a planned refuelling stop for Amelia Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan on their around the world flight.  They never made it to Howland Island, as the belief is that they were unable to find the small island and its airstrip.  History is all that Howland Island has though as there is not much left to see here on this barren island except the remaining pieces of Earhart’s airstrip and some scrub brush.
