Aug 15, 2010 The central site of the hero's square, as well as a landmark of Budapest, is the Millennium Memorial (also known as Millennium Monument or Millenary Monument ) with statues of the leaders of the seven tribes that founded Hungary in the 9th century and other outstanding figures of Hungarian history (see below). The construction of the memorial was started when the one thousandth anniversary was celebrated (in 1896), but it was finished only in 1900 and the square got its name then. Nov 22, 2008 the most spectacular squere in the capital, sited at the entrance to city park.anyone coming up andrassy boulevard sees from afar the 36m high column in the centare of the milennium memorial,on top of wich is a statue of the archangel gabriel holding the hungarian holy crow and apostolic double cross May 15, 2009 Just ealk along on the Andrassy and you can see the end of the road this square. Monumental, light, attrack into the middle. And the 2 sides are 2 museums, with their magnificant coloums. The cobble is perfect for skates/BMX... Usually you find there some performance of them. Jan 3, 2009 I like this square very much. I think it's really interesting with its statues of hungarian kings or importatnt peoples of the hungarian history. In my opinion Heroe's Square is beautiful even in the evening. Foreigners like it very much too.
