May 27, 2010 The day we came to visit the basilica turned out to be a day of marriages both inside and outside.Inside a part of the huge basilica was fenced off for the wedding while outside one of the most beautiful old limousine cars was waiting for the happy couple.Meanwhile all the tourists took a stand before the car to have their picture taken.Inside is a different story. After looking around on the main floor, you have to invest about 20$ if I remember well inorder to take the elevator up.When you got up you still have a few tens of steps to climb and finally you reach the roof.In front of you:Budapest with all its beauty.Yes,pay the money and see the city from the top. May 18, 2009 St. Stephen's Basilica is dedicated to Hungary's first king, St. Stephen. The largest church in Budapest, about 8500 people can get in. Apart from its vastness St Stephen's Basilica offers other attractions: -It houses Hungary's most sacred treasure, St Stephen's mummified right hand, the Szent Jobb (Holy Right Hand) The church is built in a Neoclassical style with similarities to St. Paul Cathedral in London. -Go up the cupola and take in the view of whole Budapest from above! -Several musical programmes are organised in the church throughout the year.
