About Eger Fortress
Eger fortress is one of the biggest attraction in Eger. It is lying above the main square (dobo) of Eger. The fortress was built from the 12th century, and saw many battles mainly agains the Ottoman empire. It's famous defenders leaded by Istvan Dobo was written in a novell by Geza Gardonyi, called Stars of Eger. The fortress can be visited, tickets from 700HUF walking tickets (children 50% off), 2100HUF which is good for all exhibitions and the casamates tour (which is a kindda cellar/tunnel system under the fortress).

Getting there:
Take a train from Budapest Keleti station to Miskolc direction (there are some direct trains to Eger as well), change at Fuzesabony (intercities usually stop only here) to Eger. (around 2hours ride)
Buses from Stadionok bus station (on the red underground line) or by car on M3 highway, take exit at Fuzesabony

Great place to learn about history of hungarian mideval cities, way of life and that time heroes. old part of town Eger is beautifull.
