Aug 23, 2011 A spectacular waterfall in Iceland near Akureyri. Actually, it is located in the Mývatn district (North-Central Iceland). The water drops 12 meters over a width of 30 meters. The story goes that in the year 1000 when Iceland adopted Christianity as official religion, the strongest advocate of this new law, Þorgeir, threw his statues of the Norse gods into the waterfall, hence the name: Godafoss (waterfall of the Gods).
