Lovely location, well kept and definitely THE place to be in Iceland if you are interested in plants as it boast itself with having a complete collection of all the plants that are growing in Iceland. I bet there are a number of invaders that they do not have, but that is probably true for every country :-)
Anyway, it's nicely located on top of the hill somewhat behind the cathedral. The garden not extremely big, but cleverly laid out in a series of smaller units that allow for views and cosy areas while presenting all manner of plants organised by plant and ground types.
I thoroughly enjoyed taking a long walk in there ...

not so great in the winter but deff worth the drive in the summer. Also if you are doing the ring road this is a great place to spend time while you are doing your laundry in the last laundromat for miles.

This is a very beutiful garden with hundreds of flowers and trees,all sorts of plants.If you come to Akureyri in the summertime,you should go to The Botanical Garden.
