The Jantar Mantar is an astronomical observatory park in the heart of Delhi, where vedic priests calculated the position of the planets and some stars for astrological purposes, there is a group of around 7 monuments in this park that point for example to the polar star or help to locate the other planets. There are more Jantar Mantars in other big cities in India.

It's pretty impressive to visit the Jantar Mantar and see how accurate it is. There were a group of kids around when I was there and we ended up playing hide-and-go-seek around the monuments! (lots of fun!) Just don't make the mistake I did and visit at noon - there's hardly any places to get out of the heat of the sun when it's right over top of you!
