Red Fort displays the hallmark of perfect taste and elegance. Built at the height of one of the most cultured courts the world has known, this is Mughal palace architecture at its most ambitious and sophisticated. Imagined in its original completeness, it would have easily outshone its contemporary European rival, Louis xiv's palace at Versailles, and it covered twice the area of the largest European palace, the Escorial.

An amazing fort where every year the Prime Minister of India gives a speech at the fort on 15th August which is India's Independence Day. There is renovation work done by the Archaeological Survey of India which is restoring the gardens, walls, etc to bring it back to it's former glory.

I definite must see...

Most who go to Agra probably head straight to the Taj Mahal, but whatever you do don't miss the Red Fort. It puts the icing on the cake for any Taj Mahal visit. The are uniquely connected!

Whilst worth seeing if you have time in Delhi, in my opinion, Agra fort is much better as forts go. It lacks any real character and doesn't live up to expectations as the Mughul's seat of power.
