Aug 4, 2011 Connaught Place, the horseshoe-shaped market of New Delhi, was designed by Robert Tor Russell and W H Nicholls. It was named after the Duke of Connaught, a member of the British royal family. It was the largest of its kind in India at that time. Connaught Place is still a premier shopping destination of Delhi, with a number of restaurants, food joints, watering holes, shops, emporia and cinema halls. It is one of the leading commercial and business hubs of the city and can be broadly categorized into two areas - Inner Circle and Outer Circle. Apr 7, 2009 I like Connaught Place. It is a good area of Delhi to stay in because it is very easy to navigate, there are lots of places to eat and great people watching (especially on the weekend). It is also fairly close to some of the area attractions like museums, the India gate, the Gandhi museum (free!). Jun 8, 2008 This is a maze of shops in the middle of the city. Got lost here both times that I went to the city. Its not that bad though, the municipality has put up maps all over the place to assist shoppers. The Delhi metro was being constructed when I was visiting so I don't know how bad it is now. Jul 19, 2009 amazing shops, reataurants and cool places to hang out. Add to it the awesome Delhi Metro services, which can transport you from one end to other in minutes! The underground markets are just amazing. I sometimes get a massive hankering for the food I savored around this area. Mar 13, 2010 Connaught Place can not be missed once in New Delhi, as this is one of the most important centres with tourist offices, shops, restaurants, tailors, banks, anything needed. It is also a meeting point, and a place to relate other locations in the city.
