Avoid the clone shopping malls in Kolkata. Hit Chambalama instead - the best little shop in new market instead where you can find beautifully authentic Tibetian jewellery that's dirt cheap! The shop, it has to be said, is tiny but perfectly formed. The perfect place to find rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and other really cool stuff to give to your friends back home or buy for yourself. Go into new market and ask around - you'll find it eventually.
