Namgyal Monastery is the monastery of His Holiness The Fourteenth Dalai Lama. When he is in residence, travellers occassionally have the opportunity to meet him in person. Annual public Dharma teachings are given over Losar each year (around early March) in the courtyard of the monastery.

the monastery is the the most peacful place around Mccloedganj (upper dharamshala), and it brightens up during the chanting of the buddhists chants while the monks are performing the rituals..... its an out of world experience.

We saw a teaching by the Dalai Lama here and it was so so unbelievable. I really like this monastery. Very Tibetan feel and a very active place of worship.
