very beautiful place, enjoy the Dal Lake and majestic gardens around it. The house boats are costly i better suggest stay in a nice hotels. I wonder why they still kept those name"house boat" though actually they are boat but they don't move over the lake any more they are static and crowded by many others + your movement restricted have to wait for shikara for emergency landing in land ;) . The tourist be ware of buying the things "shawal" and "Keshar" ...i dont know much about "Shawal" but if you want to buy "keshar" i guess the best place would be Pampore 15 km down in Jammu-Srinagar where you can find the "Worlds best saffron grown here" So if you don't have any personal contact i guess this will be better option.

if you visit India....then Srinagar and Dal Lake is a MUST on your list!!! i've been there everytime when i was back in India, and will keep on going there. the place is so tranquil so peaceful it is not with words to describe... i my opinion is Kashmir the most beautiful state of India... it is a different country on a different planet... you can stay at this old and beautiful houseboats, surrounded by fields of lotuses...
they also claim to have the grave of jesus... true or not true that will be up on you
go and have fun also the sharas or ganja is one of the best's

The scenery the atmosphere and our boat boy were lovely, the only down side was the overly pushy and quiet offensive people we had organised the whole thing through who managed to upset the expeirience.

dal lake is a great spot!i've never seen something like it before-so peaceful with wonderful view on mountains!however, on winter, it is really cold out there on the water though there is heating!

Amazing place to spend a day. The Shikaras and the Kebab shops in the middle of the lake... Mmmmm... Excotic !!!
