Oct 12, 2011 One of the must-have experiences to make in Jaipur is riding an elephant up the hill to the Amber fort. You will be climbing up the stairs and descent from a platform in a basket that is strapped to the elephant's back, sitting right behind an Indian who navigates the animal on the path. While you rock back and forth in the basket, you get a view of the breathtaking sight lying beneath the hill of the fort. You can see over the gardens on the roof of a palace at the foot of the hill, the broad lake and the mountains beyond. When you walk through the fort on your way out, hidden in an alleyway, you will find two figures sitting on a blanket playing music with a peculiar instrument. Upon a closer look, you will find that they have a basket at their feet with a live cobra in it. If you pay them a fee, they will play the music, and the snake will 'dance' for you. Just like you read about in arabic tales. Dec 5, 2008 Amber fort 1812. It's the fort and palaces of Sawai-Raja Maan Singh Ji , the commander in chief of Moughal Emperor Akbar. You ride up the fort on the elephant's back. You can see rooms decorated with fresks and mirrors. There is a hall of mirrors that is inlaid with tiny pieces of glass so that a single flame creates a room of a thousand bejeweled stars. The fort overlooks the Moata Lake. The view from the top is breathtaking. Related Links
