When you go to Keoladeo National Park and Bird Sanctuary, I recommend walking through the park, along the roads and trails - with a naturalist guide if you can. You will see people taking rickshaws, but in all honesty, I think walking is the purest way to go, and the best way to feel like you are a part of it all - not just whisking through. I was there early in the morning in February, it was cool, and quiet...In about an hour and a half I saw 25-30 different species of birds and a red faced monkey, right on the side of the trail. With a local naturalist guide that has a scope, you can get great views of the birds, and learn all about them at the same time. So get out there and walk, and find a local naturalist guide! If you need any guide recommendations, contact me. Even though this was a dry season, and the lakes were not all full, I still saw many species of birds, and it is well worth the visit.

Make sure you call up Kaladeo before you land there. If Kaladeo has a drought, the place is just not worth visiting. Visit the Deeg palace too which is at about 25 kms from Bharatpur.
