a drive in the evening, accompanied by some hiking is the best way to get out of the commercial ooty . Pick any direction uphill and start exploring. i have been to Ooty n-number of times and am always amazed by the natural beauty and solitude one could find within 30mins drive / hike from the city. and if u pic the blooming season park the car at some point outside the city and enjoy the wild flowers.
