Dec 17, 2009 The Vittala Temple at Hampi is one of the architectural wonders of the place with some of the pillars giving off musical sounds when tapped, though this is not officially permitted since it damages the structure. The stone chariot of Garuda in front of the temple is the symbol of Hampi. The temple was originally built in the 15th Century AD after which some of the later kings also worked on it. The temple complex consists of many temples most of which were damaged during the loot and plunder of Vijayanagara during the last war by the regional Muslim rulers.
