The Chaityabhoomi is the place where the main architect of the country's constitution and a great leader of the downtrodden masses Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar was laid to rest. Every December 6th there is a huge congregation of people who come here to pay their respects to their leader and stand in huge never ending queues stretching at least two to three kilometers at times. The Shivaji Park nearby is converted into a place for the pilgrims to stay and a huge exhibition and rally is also held there every year for almost a week.

The city is a vibrant mixture of modern and ancient, rich and poor but above all never stops moving. There are little pockets of calm and quite in parks and the ocean, then around the corner the madness of cars, trains and bicycles.
