The Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya or the erstwhile Prince of Wales Museum is worth visiting for the lovely collection of art, stone/marble/metal sculpture, European and Indian paintings, Indian miniature paintings, ivory carvings, Tibetan/Nepali Thangkas, porcelain objects and vases, stuffed animals/birds in the natural history section, special galleries like coins, maps, etc. There is an audio guide in English, German and French available for foreign tourists included in the price of the ticket. Special permission and payment is required to take pictures or videos inside the museum.

It was built between 1905 - 1914. During World War I it served as a military hospital. You can find pottery, weapons, and gifts from Japan, China... there is also a display of birds fish and wild animals .
