14 DAYS SUMATRA A JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY

orangutans expeditions, off road track, elephant safari, jungle trekking, caving, tubing, canoeing, white water rafting, wild life expedition and walking tour

 

 

Day 1 Welcome to Medan (LD)
Drive westward for about 3  hours to Bahorok. Enroute  passing
through several small town followed by vast view of rubber palm oil plantations with some countryside landscape. Overnight stay in Pan Eco in the jungle on the banks of the beautiful Bohorok river. You will a welcome jungle lunch soon you arrive in the lodge. In the afternoon you will have a chance to see the orangutans.

Day 2  Orangutan Expedition ( caving, trekking and camping) (BLD)

Today you will explore the dark and mysterious depths of ancient caves.
Visit Orang Utans Sanctuary at Bukit Lawang. walk along the riverbank
to the crossing point and cross the river by a small canoe to the sanctuary. Hike up the hill through the rain forest until the feeding site of the Orang Utans. Today you will trek into the heart of the Sumatran rainforests, home to may diverse and exotic species of flora and fauna.

 

Day 3 White Water Rafting (BL)
Bahorok - Rafting over Wampu river. After breakfast we transfer you by car to Mariki, the starting point of your Wampu river rafting experience. This Wampu river rafting trip is a fascinating adventure with many grade 2 rapids.You will raft with local guides. The trip takes about 4 hours down the Wampu river. You will enjoy the beautiful nature, sailing on a wide jungle river in the midst of an unspoiled impressive
rainforest. All around you can see and hear the tropical wildlife. Half way we will make a stop at a waterfall where  you can take a fresh shower and lunch in the open air. Lunch is included in the trip fees. After lunch you will continue the rafting for about 2 hours until you reach the bridge of the Bohorok river. After you return to Bahorok and overnight stay in Pan Eco.

Day 4  Elephant Safari(BL)
After breakfast we’ll take 3 hours driving by jeep to Tangkahan passing several small villages with some countryside lanscape. Arrive at Tangkahan Lodge and relax. Today you can enjoy an hot spring water, riding and washing an elephant, canoeing or just enjoying the jungle symphony.

 

Day 5  Leuser National Park + Medan (BL)

You still have a chance to explore Leuser National Park before transfer to Medan for overnight stay at tourist class hotel.

 

Day 6 Kerinci National Park (BL)

Today you will take an hour flight to Padang.  Then you will take a long drive to Kerinci National Park that takes about 6 hours to go there. You will stay at an homestay. After dinner you will meet the people from Tiger Protection Unit to discuss about the expedition to find the possibility to watch tiger in its’ habitat.

 

Day 7 – 10 Tiger Expedition  (BLD)

Your journey start from early in the morning to heart of Kerinci National Park. You will accompanied by a team from Tiger Protection Unit and porter. During 4 days you will monitor flora and fauna from its’ sound, footprint and other. This area are rich of flora and fauna such as Tiger, Rhino, Elephant, various of birds and Raflesia Arnoldi the biggest flower in the world.

 

Day 11 – 13  From Highland to Island of  West Sumatra. (B)

In the afternoon you can enjoy swimming, snorkeling or just lying down on the white sandy beach of Sikuai Island. Optional diving are available with an additional cost. Afternoon the day 13th we will have an overnight stay at Bumiminang Hotel, a four star hotel in Padang.

 

Day 14 Airport transfer (B)

If you like Nature is, ok but Padang well, let it out they are many better Places, Lake Toba.
