The Citadel of Arbil in the city of Erbil, Kurdistan/Iraq is one of the oldest cities in the world that has been continuously inhabited since the 6th century BC. The city is built on a large hill in the center of Erbil. Over the centuries new houses have been built over the old ones creating an archeological "time capsule" beneath the city.

It is not much of an attraction. They are still working on restoring the citadel, but the budget and proces is much to slow. To only interesting part of the citadel is around the main entrance, were there is a big statue and a nice view.
