Howth pensinsular is beautiful!! You can go there by DART train from Dublin and it will only take you 40 minutes or so... The cliffs are spectacular, you should definitelly take the cliff walk to the Baily lighthouse...
However, don't try to circle the island, at least not without a map, that's what we did and we got terribly lost^^ But that way, we got to see all the expensive mansions upcounty, which was also quite interesting...

Howth is a great place to spend a day, whether you like a great sea view, good food are gawking at expensive mansions of the rich and the famous. Real budget restaurant are not to be found but then again the food is generally very good since most restaurant work with fresh seafood. You can spend some time walking around the village but I would really recommend to walk around the peninsula on the cliff paths.

Howth is a fishing harbour in the north of Dublin. Its at the end of the Dart train line so is very easy to get to. There are lots of little pubs that do fab food and a great pint! Take a walk to the top of the hill known as Howth Head for some fantastic views over Dublin bay and the Wicklow Mountains. The cliffs are jagged and picturesque but be careful on a windy day!

If you don't have much time to leave the capital, Howth is a nice little fisherman village half an hour away from Dublin. Last stop of the DART line. It's gorgeaus and don't miss a walk on its Cliffs (Mind the wind tho).
