Learning is fun and while a sip of Jameson can tell you everything you need to know about good whiskey, a tour of the Old Jameson Distillery can tell all you need to know about everything else.
No longer a working distillery, the lovingly restored machinery and recreated distillery scenes will take you through the seven stages of whiskey making - from malting and milling right  through to maturation.
Allow their Guides to bring you through the fascinating story of Jameson smooth Irish whiskey from grain to glass. Surprise your friends with your discerning palate and boundless, newfound knowledge (they always knew you had it in you!).

Getting there:
The best way to get to the Old Jameson Distillery while taking in the beautiful sights of Dublin city centre. From Dame Street (outside Trinity College) walk straight up Dame Street to Lord Edward Street to Christchurch Place. Carry on past Christchurch Cathedral and take the next right onto Bridge Street. Head straight over Merchants Quay and Fr. Mathew bridge across Arran Quay. Walk up Church Street past St. Michans Cathedral and then take the next left onto May Lane /Bow Street.

If your deciding between here and the Guinness Brewery, go here. They have frequent guided tours through the distillery where they explain the distillation process and compare their process to that of scotch and american whiskey. you can also volunteer to be a whiskey taster. at the end of the tour you get to try small shots of irish, scotch, and american whiskey and compare them. also at the end of the tour you get a free drink. the employees were all very nice and fun. the video at the beginning of the tour was the only dull part because it was really just a 15 minute commercial. id still highly recommend this place! very classy decor and layout. not cheesy at all.

A very interesting tour of an irish whiskey distillery. Very informative in regards to the distilling process and presented through lovely displays. The tour ends with a free beverage (whiskey and coke, whiskey and ginger ale, or whiskey and cranberry) and if you are lucky you can participate in a whiskey tasting in which you compare Jameson to an single distilled American whiskey and a double-distilled scotch whiskey. Facility also contains a bar and a restaurant with excellent food.

I've visited the distillery 5 times and
it used to be a really fun experience, cosy, knowledgable staff... Last time however it was clear that they've taken a new approach, more tourists in less time, though they still give you a lot of info. Nice visit.

This is interesting to see the production process of whiskey and the history of Jamesons. This visit was enjoyable but can't be compared with the Guinness House which I visited just before going to Jamesons.
