Dec 3, 2009 The Archaeological Museum is one of the best places to see the prize items from the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum. It has a special section on erotic objects found in these volcano disrupted sites that is open for free only on a few select occasions like the UNESCO World Heritage Day every year. The best parts of the walls are conserved and preserved here for posterity in temperature controlled conditions far away from the heat and dust of the actual sites. If you visit Pompeii and Herculaneum but do not visit this museum you will miss seeing most of the best parts in both these places since they have all been transferred here. A must see place if you are interested in the story behind the Vesuvius eruptions and it's after effects on these two sites. Oct 26, 2010 It is most famous for having been lost, along with Pompeii n the eruption of August 24, 79 AD. Visit the old town, you almost wont be able to tell the difference between archeological site and todays buildings! Jan 12, 2010 Everything extracted from Hercolano and Pompeii can be found here!
