I Fori Imperiali costituiscono una serie di piazze monumentali edificate nel corso di un secolo e mezzo (tra il 46 a.C. e il 113 d.C.) nel cuore della città di Roma dagli imperatori . Di essi non fa invece parte il Foro Romano , ossia la vecchia piazza repubblicana, la cui prima sistemazione risale all'età regia ( VI secolo a.C. ) e che era stato per secoli il centro politico, religioso ed economico della città. Nonostante i molti nuovi edifici e le ricostruzioni di quelli più antichi, e nonostante i molti monumenti che lo andarono abbellendo, il Foro Romano non ebbe mai un carattere unitario. Sotto Cesare e Augusto , la costruzione della Basilica Giulia e il rifacimento della Basilica Emilia , che delimitavano i lati lunghi della piazza, diedero tuttavia al Foro una certa regolarità.

The Fori Imperiali complex is in many ways more interesting than the Forum Romanum, because it shows how the representative heart of Rome was expanding until the time of emperor Traian, and how the emperors from Augustus on used architecture and urban development to forward their own agendas and propaganda. Besides, the last part of the complex, the forum of Traian, together with very well preserved market halls and the gorgeous Columna Traianea, is one of the real highlights for someone who wants to take just one little step off the most beaten track.

I think that's just a lot of ancient stones. Of course it's a lot of history but unless someone is a real big fan of ancient Rome and knows really lot about it its just boring. There many nicer places in Rome than that one.
