Jan 11, 2012 The old Jewish ghetto in Rome is really good for food! Just walking around is already nice, but try the deepfried artichoke in one of the restaurants. Really good...! And then there's a small bakery (somewhere) that sells worldfamous jewish cake. Just ask around when you're in the ghetto, everyone knows where it is. The 'cake' looks a bit burned, but the taste is so good! If you cross the Ponte Garibaldi you'll walk straight into Trastevere, another nice quarter. This is the quarter where most of the students hang out. Nice for an evening and especially nice for meeting people! Hope you have fun! Sep 5, 2009 If you feel like a kosjer pizza this is the place to go. Jews have been living in this part of the city since Pope Paul IV forced them to live here in the 16th century. The history of the jews in Rome has not been pretty since then. And although most jews don't live here anymore it still is an area with completely different atmosphere.
