The Piazza del Popolo is absolutely gorgeous. It's a huge elliptical piazza with fountains at it's ends and a giant obelisk and fountain at the center. There's always a huge crowd of people milling around. Be careful of the guys with the roses. They don't take no for an answer. Any ladies walking around will suddenly find themselves with a fist full of flowers. The man will declare that it is his "gift" to the lady, and then turn to the gentleman walking with her and ask for money. If you don't mind paying a little for some flowers, this can be entertaining. However, if you don't want the flowers, you must be very firm. It also doesn't hurt to stick your hands in your pockets so they can't force the flowers on you.

Rania said:"If Rome does not fulfill all your aesthetics needs perhaps you should check if your heart still beats...". This is exactly how I would describe Rome, as amazingly beautiful and grand! Everything in that city inspires you and makes you feel incredibly tiny comparing to History.

Very busy, lots of cars. Good shopping. We use Rome to fly into and then travel by train to other cities in Italy and it is our place to stay before flying out. Too busy for me but alot of history there I would like to explore.

One of the bigger open spaces in Rome, always busy. The twin churches on one side are really adorable. Lots of little bars in the streets around where the Romans come for a snack or lunch.

The second oldest Egyptian obelisk is located here. It was originally brought to the city by order of Augustus in 10 BC and was moved to the Piazza del Popolo in 1589.
