There are so many things to do here. I only had an afternoon so I rushed around the Vatican museum (there are often long queues so allow for that). A highlight was the Sistine Chapel. Then I took the elevator up to the top of the dome of St Peter's for amazing views of Rome, be warned though that there are quite a few steps after you get out of the elevator. There is quite a good tourist shop at the top. Then I visited St Peter's at ground level. Finally I send some postcards from the Vatican post shop. Next time I want to check out the crypt where the popes are buried beneath St Peter's. Make sure you don't wear revealing clothing or they won't let you into St Peter's.

Sorry for all the Rome lovers, but sorry, I can't see or feel the attraction. It's a dirty city and compared to other great cities it's just a 6. Ok, lets also be a bit possitive... the Romans were nice, hospital and openminded. We had a few good diners in off-centre places. Restaurants in the centres are Tourist Traps. So get off track and walk, look and SMELL and you'll find the perfect place.
I loved the Sictijnse Chappel [Vatican] and the Trevi fountain [we were there on time, and I didn't trow a coin ;-) ]

The Vatican is impressive, true, but the waiting in line... I wouldn't do it a second time. Once you're inside there are some interesting things to look at - with the Sistine Chapel at the very top of the list - but all in all it's a little disappointing. Everything is crowded, you can't look at things at your own pace, and the whole experience was just a bit of an anticlimax for me.

Truly breathtaking - spend the entire day. The morning spend in the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's in the afternoon.....take the tour all the way up to the top to see the best view of the Rome skyline.
Don't be overwhelmed by the thousands of pieces of priceless art in their collection.

You never imagine that it is so big, nor that there is so much to see!

The biggest surprise was the food, we were on a trip and had a 4 course meal including wine and an espresso to finish. I just didn't expect such good food in a church/museum!
