Oct 24, 2009 Piazza San Carlo is one of the largest and most famous squares of Turin.It's located in the center and has an area of 12,800 meters.In the center of the square stands the Caval d'Brons, equestrian monument built to celebrate the victories of Emanuele Filiberto. There are two historic religious monuments: the Church of Santa Cristina designed by Carlo di Castellamonte in 1639 and the Church of San Carlo Borromeo built around to 1619.Both the churchs was edified in baroque style.In one of the buildings adjacent to the square, stay in 1773 the poet Vittorio Alfieri. watch video May 29, 2009 Really big piazza surrounded by some beautifull buildings, some of which have big historical importance. There are little plaques everywhere. On one side there is also a metal bull (toro) inbedded in the pavement. Rubbing your feet over his balls is supposed to bring you luck. On the piazza are often art exhibitions. The nearby via Roma that connexts this piazza with the piazza Castello has some really good gellaterias.
