Oct 11, 2008 The glass blowing shops and small workplaces were mind blowing. We had stopped off at the island of Murano mostly because we heard people talking about it and because one of the cell phones from our company was named Murano (yeah the other one was Burano) but what I saw literally blew my mind away. I went in with the mindset of taking a quick peek and maybe buying a $5 souvenir and ended up lugging a $300 vase of the most incredible blue back with me all the way to the US.....its one of the best investments I have ever made....a must stop if you are in Venice. Preferably pick the early June months to check out the factories. Most of them were closed when we went in August and inspite of that we were blown away. Sep 27, 2008 I took a tour here my first time in Venice. They usually have a show, for a small fee, that demonstrates the art of glass blowing. This is a great place to go and find the best prices on Murano glass, also called Venetian glass. On Murano you can find great buys the further you walk along the streets filled with shoppes. I've found some fantastic buys among the smaller shoppes and then sometimes even the larger stores have a great deal. It's all about patience and looking for what you want and what you are willing to pay. Sometimes one can even bargain with the sellers and come up with some great prices in the end. I'm all about finding a great deal, especially when traveling. Aug 10, 2009 Boarding a comfortable motor boat, you'll speed along the Venetian lagoon to Murano, famous for its glassware. During the visit you'll explore shops, factories and watch the skilled glass-blowers as they create works of art. You'll also have time to visit a museum showcasing the world-famous Murano glass. Trust me, it is worth seeing.
