Oct 17, 2008 I loved Venice, I'd heard stories about it flooding etc but we were there with beautiful clear blue sunny skies and what a fabulous place. We wandered around the back streets up and over little bridges crossing the many canals and followed the signs to see the Rialto bridge across the Grand Canal. Seeing the Grand Canal was like opening the pages of travel mag especially beautiful as the sun was going down. We dined that night on the edge of the canal later we went back over the Rialto bridge and found the "fake bag" sellers with their wares. Not exactly what I expected on the bridge. We went back the next morning before all the hustle and bustle of the day had started this time we saw the sun coming up! Nov 24, 2009 Yes a gondola ride is a must when you go to Venice - it is short and a little smelly - the water isn't the cleanest - but it is wonderful to imagine all the people through the years who have passed through the waterways Apr 26, 2010 esplendida ciudad, sin canal que seria venecia, sin agua que la rodease, sin brisa que la acariciara. venecia unica ¿que seria venecia si fuese surcada por carreteras en lugar de canales y coches en lugar de gondolas? Oct 6, 2009 The gondola ride at the Grand Canal is a beautiful experience. The sights all look like scenes from a postcard, the gondolier is also a great tenor. We enjoyed this ride very much.
