Sep 27, 2008 When traveling throughout Europe you will probably come across this grocery store. Especially when money is tight and one wants to manage money the best possible way is to go to a grocery store for your meals. When we stopped off in Venice, Lido was one of the places that had the only grocery store that my friends and I were able to find. This island is one of the places that has vehicles. If you don't know Venice, is a walking city and there are no vehicles on the island. When one really thinks about all the expenditures that are involved with sitting down to a meal in Europe, sometimes it is cheaper to just go and buy it, especially when splitting the cost. I recommend sitting down and enjoying an Italian dinner, say one sit-down dinner in each city, and then all other meals would come from the grocery store. In the end, it all comes down to what you're willing to spend in the end. Just remember to have fun and enjoy you're surroundings! Nov 7, 2009 Edit your review! Rate this place: It was amazing spent couples of hours there... The Lido is an 11 km long sandbar located in Venice, northern Italy, home to about 20,000 residents. The Venice Film Festival takes place at the Lido every September. Sep 10, 2009 Venice is one of the most romantic places in the world. Sure there's a strong element of commercialism - the Venetians are known to have a history of being succesful tradesmen - but that's not reason to spoil your party. A floating city, its great to float around and see the outskirts on a boat. There are several places of interest, mainly churches and old venetian buildings. The Cathedral of San Marco is a must-see for art/architecture lovers, and if you make the effort to climb to the top you won't be disappointed...the views of Venice and the architecture on the roof, as well as the famous four Byzantine horse statues are a sight to behold. To relax, sit back in a posh Venetian cafe while a jazz band plays on, or people-watch in Piazza San Marco on the steps. An amazing experience, but personally I wouldn't spend more than three days there. Oct 4, 2009 My wife and I really enjoyed this place. It's intense because of Italy's long culture and 1000+-year-old old buildings. Watch for groups of begging children. Be assertive and walk with intention. Extremely romantic. Spend 4-7 days here. You won't regret it. Related Links
