Kunozan Toshogu Shrine is located pretty much on top of the small mountain Kunozan, near Shizuoka city. It was the first burial place of the shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, as per his last wish. His remains were later moved to the shrine in Nikko.

There are 2 ways to get to Kunozan Toshogu shrine: by ropeway from the Nihondaira Plateau, a place famous for its view of Fuji-San (when it deigns show itself) and which can be reached by bus from the town of Shizuoka, or by hiking up the mountain from the sea side, a spot also reached by bus from downtown.
I hiked up mountain, then took the ropeway to the plateau, where I enjoyed the view, sans Fuji-san unfortunately, and the local strawberries, and then took the bus back to town.

Definitely recommended.
