Meriken Park
About Meriken Park
Meriken Park is a nice waterfront park in Kobe's port area. The park was devastated by the 1995 earthquake, but has now become a popular spot for locals and tourists again.
A small memorial in the park commemorates the many lives lost in the port area due to the earthquake. It includes a short, damaged waterfront section which has been preserved as a reminder of the earthquake's tremendous, destructive power. Other attractions in Meriken Park include the Kobe Port Tower, a symbol of the city, and the Kobe Maritime Museum Payment Accepted:
Getting there:
Meriken Park is a 5 minute walk south of Motomachi Station or a short walk from Kobe Harborland.

Nov 7, 2009 I didn't like it so much. I think this tower isn't special nice, and the town neither. Finally I didn't see the view from the top. Not extreme modern, but modern. But the Earthquake Memorial is a great idea to remember of the time. But at night it worth so visit. 'Cause the shapes and colours are appear.
