Osaka castle is a beautiful building next to the Osaka-Jo Hall. Even if it is a remake, because the original burned down in the 17th century, it still has a mystic aura and tells a lot about bygone times. I really like that typical japanese architecture, with golden ornaments and symbols.
Inside you can find an exhibition about the historical backgrounds, the feudal lords and his familiy, who lived there once, and the rebuilding.
On one side this is very interesting (almost everything is also written in English), but I'd rather like to know how they lived in that castle once, means: what have the rooms been like, what where they for and what did the residents do back then (did they have some kind of daily routine and how was it?)?
All in one the Osaka Castle is very nice place to get an insight into the history of Japan and take a break in front of the castle, where you can find some food stands and - when you are lucky - young japanese magicians. :)

Not the largest castle in Japan but one of the most striking I believe. You come off street corner form a Modern TV Station Building and basically walk through a park and come up a huge moat and an impressive castle tower. Osaka Castle is so big you dont even see the DONJON or main tower until after you cross the moat and go inside the grounds, but the view is definitely worth the wait. The inside is a museum as the castle is restored but do not let that stop you fom enjopying the history and fantastic look at one of Japan's greatest castles

The Osaka Castle, the temples, the bridges, the river, the modern buildings, theme parks, the culture, the food, the place, the people, you name it, I like everything in Osaka! Osaka is one of my favorite cities. It is one city in the world which I could say left a profound imprint in my heart. I feel so connected to the place even if I've there 7 years ago. I just hope that one day, I could again visit the place to be able to reconnect to one of the cities I truly love!

Osaka Castle ( 大坂城 "Osaka-Jo") is one of Japan's most famous of castles and dates back to around 1583. The 15 acres of land which surrounds the castle is close to main bus routes and train stations on the West JR Loop Line.

Osaka is not such a traditional city in Japan for temples/castles as Kyoto, Nara, or even Tokyo, it's definitely more of a big modern city. But the Osaka castle is definitely in any Top 5 Osaka spots tour! Nice view from the inside & outside. And it's a very big castle too :)
