Sep 12, 2010 2nd largest buddha or "daibutsu" statue in japan. stands 13.35m tall. was cast in 1252, made of bronze. hundreds of "jizo" statues are everywhere. they represent miscarried fetuses abortions. many temples and shrines, along with a nice beach are near by. english speaking travel information booth right inside kamakura station.unlimited day pass for enoden line is around 500 yen.worth staying over night! Feb 24, 2009 This is closest to Tokyo one of Great Budhas. He (it?) is really great, in size. And quite great are his flip-flops hanging on the right-hand side when facing Daibutsu himself. By the way, it is worth to go beside him and you’ll see, that Great Budha has open windows on his back :-D Do not forget to visit souvenir places around, some things are not too expensive there. Sep 5, 2008 One of the biggest Buddah statues I have ever seen. You can get inside it, but only back part:). And near there, you can see Buddah's zori, the biggest flip flops I have ever seen.
