If you are on a short time base and want to get some impression about Japan, this is the temple complex you should be headed for. Being so close to the international airport, you can easily access it, and it's really worth going. Enjoy!

The Narita-San temple complex is a must visit if you are in that area of Tokyo. From the exit of Narita station (there is only one exit), walk straight ahead until you see McDonalds on the right (about one to two blocks). Turn left and head down the hill for about 6 minutes. It's close. If you get lost, just ask. Everyone in the area will know the way.

There are a lot of ancient and modern temple buildings, with a large park to walk through. If you go into the main temple on odd hours (9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, etc) you can observe a fire purification ritual.

My first temple visit in Japan - occurring at night, it was incredible - exotic buildings, rolling hills, forested grounds, and ever so peaceful and safe, even at night.

nice walk in their garden. the street from station leading to temple is also interesting there are local small shops.

The temple is awesome. It's a big complex that exhibits a great amount of artistic expression.
