Great place to wander about. I could spent hours watching the Japanese sawing up frozen pieces of tuna, the endless rows of fish some of them I'd never seen before.

Beware of the guys driving around in motorised carts, they own the road.

Between the actual fish market and the metro stations there are a few sushi restaurants. My advice; just go to the places with the long cues. The freshest sushi breakfast you'll ever get in your life.

As far as fish markets go, this is about as impressive as it gets. They cart in massive whole tuna and plunk blocks of dry ice on them before passing them through the band saw. There are lots of sushi spots in and around the market, but I didn't have any luck getting into them - the owners would just yell at us "No Sushi" the moment we'd walk in these places. If someone figures this one out, be sure to let me know.

I wanted to visit this place so much. Why? Result of over watching Discovery channel :) I managed to visit Tsukiji Fish market 2 times during my stay in Japan. First time I came late to join tour to tuna auction, but delicious tuna sashimi compensated that fail. I recommend to see that market - it is interesting. But watch yourself - that guys on trolleys are crazy, they driving very fast. Enjoy!

The best place to eat the freshest Shashimi!!
Go to one of the many small restaurants, which one to choose? the one with a long line. The wait goes faster than you think. People know where to go for the best, in this case, be a follower!
