Suizenji Garden
About Suizenji Garden
Suizenji-Jojuen is a spacious, Japanese style landscape garden in Kumamoto, best enjoyed by scrolling along a circular path. It was built by the Hosokawa family in the 17th century.
The garden reproduces the 53 post stations of the Tokaido, the important road, which connected Edo with Kyoto during the Edo Period, in miniature form, including a small Mt. Fuji Payment Accepted:
Getting there:
Suizenji is a 30 minute tram ride from JR Kumamoto Station. Get off at the "Suizenji Koen" tram stop, from where the park can be reached in a short walk. Alternatively, take a train on the JR Hohi Line to Shin-Suizenji Station, the third station from Kumamoto Station. The park can then be reached in a 5 to 10 minute walk from the station

Nov 5, 2009 It's one of Japan's finest garden. We may recognize the miniature Mount Fuji and Lake Biwa (in the shape of the instrument) easily. It was raining when I've been there, but this weather just made it 'more green': the tress, grass, moss...fantastic colorful view.
