Miyajima is a sacred island for both Buddhists and Shintos. Only 2000 persons live on this island. Upon landing there you’ll be surprised by the orange Itsukushima shrine which stands majestically amid water. The shrine is 16m high. Deers, which are considered as sacred messengers of god in Shintoism, wander freely on the island. It’s called the floating shrine because you can see long corridors supported by wood pillars above the sea. There’s also a five-storey pagoda.

This place is a must when traveling to Japan. Its so amazing and really beautiful. One of my favourite places in Japan :)
