Oct 23, 2008 The Royal Diving Club is an attractive facility on the stretch of coast south of Aqaba. They have a nice pool, plenty of lounge chairs in both sun and shade and a restaurant with decent food at fairly reasonable prices. The dive center rents SCUBA and snorkeling gear. The beach is very clean, as are the toilets and other facilities. On the downside, the service in the restaurant is extremely slow, the snorkeling is not nearly as good as the brochure says it will be (not enough fish), and the dive center does not have any life vests for rent. This means that those who want to snorkel, but are not very strong swimmers, will have to choose whether to go in the water or not. In addition, the admission price is an outrageous 15 Jordanian Dinars each! Add 8 JD (each!) to the cost of renting snorkeling equipment, plus lunch and it quickly adds up to a very expensive day. On the bright side, there is a shuttle bus from the city center to the Royal Diving Club. It costs only 2 JD per person, each way. Ask at your hotel where to get the shuttle.
